Hawaii is a popular tourist state for Americans and foreigners alike. Each island in Hawaii has its distinct attractions and pleasures, from soaring mountains to iconic beach resorts. Hawaii's charms are many and profound, regardless of which island is visited. On the majestic Na Pali shoreline, waterfalls cascade down the mountainsides, while ancient rivers dig deeper into the rock of Kauai in the Waimea Canyon. Adventurers can find an active volcano on the Big Island, and they can explore Hawaii's rich history on Oahu.
Waikiki is Hawaii's most popular tourist destination. Waikiki is a Honolulu suburb known for its large resorts, restaurants, and shopping venues. The Waikiki Historic Trail features historical markers made from surfboards, inspired by Duke Kahanamoku, an Olympic gold medalist swimmer and ardent surfer from Waikiki. Diamond Head State Monument is located at the end of Waikiki's crescent-shaped coastline. A difficult trek to the top of the adjacent mountain leads to bunkers and an artillery control station, as well as panoramic views, as it was previously an essential vantage point for the island's coastal defense. On Hawaii's Big Island, Volcanoes National Park provides a rare up-close look at an active volcano system where lava pours from fissures in the ground. The surrounding environment is sculpted by cooled lava rock that has spilled across highways in a show of irresistible force. Kilauea, the park's centerpiece, has been active recently, including a lava lake eruption in January 2021. Visitors should be warned that areas of the park are closed when there is a threat of seismic activity. The Thurston Lava Tube, the steaming Halema'uma'u crater, and Devastation Trail are just a few of the attractions in the park. Tourists can experience the rumblings of seismic activity and, if lucky, see a pillar of ash escaping into the air. Hanauma Harbor, formed within the crater of a volcano on the island of Oahu, is a unique bay that has long been popular with snorkelers. Following pollution to the sensitive coral environment caused by overuse, restoration efforts have returned the bay to its former natural state, and it is now open to visitors. The Hanauma Bay Education Center is an excellent place to learn about the bay. Several gear shops give snorkeling classes so tourists can experience the spectacular coral system and its marine life first hand. Haleakala National Park, located on Maui, provides access to the extinct Haleakala Volcano, which reaches over 10,000 feet. The top offers panoramic views of the entire island, which are especially stunning at daybreak. Portions of the park are covered in subtropical rainforest, which are home to endangered species, while the dormant crater is barren, revealing a lunar-like scene. Visitors can wander the many hiking paths at their leisure or sign up for ranger-led excursions, and visitors can spend the night in the park, surrounded by one of Hawaii's most appreciated landscapes. Hawaii offers a unique vacation experience, attracting sightseers, tourists, and adventurers from all over the world. And it is not just for family vacationers, but also groups of friends in search of entertainment. Hawaii, well-known as a haven for beach lovers, never fails to impress due to its numerous natural wonders to see and explore.
